If your blog is written in portuguese but you want to participate in a free pass give away for an american conference, in which language would you write? Would you write a single post, using both english and portuguese? Or would you write two posts? Is this a disposable problem, or is this a marketing matter with symbolic ties to our contemporary complex informational issues? Plus, does technology play a role in (making and) solving this question?

That’s the kind of problem that IDEA 2007 was designed to discuss. IDEA is a conference not actually about blogs, neither solely about design nor information architecture, but for the whole experience of information, its design and access in a world “where cyberspace is a meaningless term because the online and offline worlds cannot be made distinct”. On the table, the mash-up of different experiences and solutions from people who work in anthropology, philosophy, design, arts and science (David Weinberger, Mike Kuniavsky, Michael Wesch and Hasan Elahi are some of the professionals who will be speaking). If you got interested (like me), head to New York City, next October 4-5.

P.S.: For my “designing-of-a-post” dilemma, I’ve made my choice. You may notice, as an English speaker, you’re having an easy and straight reading experience, because I’m writing fully in English. For those who can’t understand it, and are not exactly meant to “use” this post, I wrote a following post in the roll (that visually “precedes” this one in the roll order of the blog’s body) that tells in portuguese some of the story of the present post. All set and done - and, hopefully, clearly understandable. Or isn’t it? Any idea?
